Ariadne's Thread
In the story of Ariadne, she gives Theseus a piece of thread so he can go into the depths of the labyrinth to kill the Minotaur and then find his way out again. It is the prince Theseus who kills the Minotaur and becomes the hero, but perhaps Ariadne is the intriguing main character of this myth, and her story that of a woman.
